Our Vision and Promise to Parents/Carers

Warm and Personalised Care

We are committed to creating a welcoming, homely, and nurturing environment in which every child feels safe and valued. Our team ensures that each child receives individual attention and care, supporting their well-being and happiness throughout their time with us.

Stimulating Learning Environment

Our preschool setting is secure, happy, and engaging, recognising and celebrating each child as a unique individual. We encourage curiosity and exploration, providing opportunities that support every child’s interests and developmental needs.

High-Quality Early Years Education

We deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, fostering every child’s learning and all-round development. Our approach is designed to encourage progress and prepare children for the next stage of their educational journey.

Exceeding Standards

We strive to provide a high-quality service that not only meets but exceeds Ofsted standards. Our focus on excellence ensures that children receive the best possible care and education in a safe and supportive environment.

Inclusive, Accessible, and Affordable

Our professional service is dedicated to being inclusive, accessible, and affordable for all families. We work to remove barriers so that every child can benefit from our provision, regardless of background or circumstance.

Celebrating Diversity

We actively welcome and respect all cultures, embracing the richness that diversity brings to our community. Our setting recognises and values the contributions of every family, creating a sense of belonging for all.

Early Years Foundation Stage Framework

At our preschool, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to support each child’s learning, development, and wellbeing from birth to five years.

Children learn best when they’re happy and engaged, so we focus on learning through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences in a safe, caring, and welcoming environment. Every child is encouraged to be curious, confident, and independent, while building the skills they need for school and beyond.

The EYFS includes seven areas of learning, such as communication, physical development, early reading and maths, understanding the world, and creative play. These areas are all carefully woven together to support each child’s interests, strengths, and own pace of learning.

We get to know every child really well, celebrating their achievements and working closely with parents and carers so that every child feels happy, valued, and ready to thrive.

Personal and Social

We create a caring, inclusive space where children feel valued, build friendships, understand their feelings, and develop confidence at their own pace.

Communication and Language

We nurture confident communicators by listening carefully, chatting often, and sharing stories, songs, and ideas in a warm, supportive environment.

Physical

Through active play and everyday routines, children grow strong, coordinated, and independent while feeling safe to explore and challenge themselves.

Literacy

By sharing stories, sounds, and early writing experiences, we inspire a love of books and language that supports each child’s learning journey.

Maths

Children discover numbers, shapes, and patterns through playful, hands-on activities that encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and confidence.

Understanding of the World

We celebrate diversity and curiosity as children explore nature, cultures, technology, and the world around them through meaningful experiences.

Expressive Arts/Design

Children are encouraged to be creative and imaginative through art, music, movement, and role play in an environment where every idea is valued.

Partnerships

Parent/Carer Involvement:  As your child's first educator, your involvement is valued. We encourage you to connect with your child’s key person to support their well-being and participation in learning at Preschool.

External Organisations: At Watoto Preschool, we ensure every child gets a strong start by collaborating with trusted external partners. These partnerships allow us to provide additional support and enrich daily experiences, creating a nurturing environment where children thrive and families can trust in the quality of our care and education.

Lunch & Snacks

Children enjoy a healthy snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon. For lunch, parents can choose to send a nutritious packed lunch or order a wholesome hot meal prepared fresh each day.”

Admissions & Registration

If you would like to register your child for a place at Watoto Pre-School please contact us and we will get back to as soon as possible. All places (private & funded early learning) are allocated based on date of application and availability of required days/hours of care.

Parent Zone App

ParentZone is an app that lets parents safely view updates about their child’s day, including photos and videos uploaded by staff. Parents can also add notes to their child's learning journey, strengthening the connection with our Pre-School. Many parents appreciate the quick access to insights about their child.
